Beta Brainwave Frequencies
Beta brainwave frequencies are those associated with normal waking consciousness. Low amplitude beta waves with multiple and varying frequencies are often associated with active, busy, or anxious thinking and active concentration.
Most of the binaural beat MP3s on this site begin and end with this frequency as we ease you into a meditative state and end with you here, awake and refreshed.
Alpha Brainwave Frequencies
Alpha waves are one type of brain waves, commonly detected by electroencephalography (EEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) and predominantly found to originate from the occipital lobe during periods of relaxation or sleep, with eyes closed but still awake. Conversely alpha waves are attenuated with open eyes as well as by drowsiness and sleep. They are thought to represent the activity of the visual cortex in an idle state.
This state is often referred to as a dream like state.
Theta Brainwave Frequences
Theta brainwave frequencies involve many neurons firing synchronously, probably in the hippocampus and through the cortex. Theta activity can be observed in adults during some sleep states, and in states of quiet focus, for example meditation. These rhythms are associated with spatial navigation and some forms of memory and learning, especially in the temporal lobes.
These frequencies represent meditative states and subconscious creativity. This is where we work on placing you when listening to one our our binaural beats, with occasional dips into Delta waves but we also pop back up to the Alpha and Beta frequencies to keep you from falling asleep.
Why is this beneficial?
Your brain cells reset their sodium & potassium ratios when the brain is in the Theta state. The sodium & potassium levels are involved in osmosis which is the chemical process that transports chemicals into and out of your brain cells. After an extended period in the Beta state the ratio between potassium and sodium is out of balance. This the main cause of what is known as "mental fatigue". A brief period in Theta (about 5 - 15min) can restore the ratio to normal resulting in mental refreshment.
Delta Brainwave Frequencies
Delta brainwave frequencies are those that occur during deep sleep. Helps with intuition and insight, especially helpful in a meditative relaxed state. |
