Some helpful tips:
The natural sleep pattern for human beings is approximately 90 minutes long so you should set your clock to wake you up at some point in time that is a multiple of that interval. Going to bed at 10 and setting your alarm for 6, for instance, is giving yourself an 8 hour window of sleep. This will wake you in the middle of one of your 90 minute cycles of sleep, which is more disruptive than waking toward the end of one. Setting your alarm for 5:30 (7 and 1/2 hours) or 7 (9 hours) would be more beneficial to feeling rested.
